A Tribute to a Friend, an Artist, an Icon.
Two years ago, during a photoshoot in the dunes of Lompoul for our Tabaski collection Nubians, we gathered as a family of creatives to celebrate the vibrant talent of Dakar’s youth.
It remains one of my most cherished memories — a day marked by warmth, laughter, and the effortless brilliance of every person present. Among them was Mamy Tall.
When we asked each creative to share a short biography in their own words, Mamy sent hers with the sincerity, depth, and precision that defined her. Today, as we mourn her passing, these words — and the person behind them — take on an even deeper meaning.
A Multidisciplinary Architect With a Vision Beyond Her Time
Mamy Tall described herself as a “multidisciplinary architect,” a title she carried with both humility and mastery.
Her vision was rooted in the preservation and promotion of heritage — material and immaterial, historical and contemporary — while embracing new technological tools to shape the future.
Architecture was not merely her profession; it was her first passion. Since 2017, she worked on public projects that placed her at the heart of Senegal’s construction landscape, navigating its technical and administrative realities with grace and determination.
She was also the co-founder of Lives, a platform dedicated to promoting African destinations and their rich creative ecosystems. Through this work, she championed our continent’s culture with boldness and authenticity.
A lover of Africa, guided by Purpose
Mamy’s artistic universe was deeply rooted in the African context and its evolving needs.
To her, architecture was a lens through which she learned to reinterpret the world — and it granted her the unique ability to see what many overlooked.
Her creativity extended far beyond architecture. She explored photography, video, scenography, fashion, and more, refusing to be confined by the boundaries of a single craft.
Her work was driven by a clear vision and an inner compass that guided each project, each idea, each step.
She was everything she said — and far more.
A burst of positive energy.
A craftswoman of excellence.
A soul who embodied ihsan in all that she undertook.
Mamy had the remarkable gift of turning the ordinary into the exceptional. She poured her heart, her drive, her entire being into everything she touched. And like all the great ones, she never wasted a minute — as if she sensed that her time was precious.
She was present in every project, every cause, every movement:
For health.
Against violence.
For culture.
For community.
From the campaign for the littoral to supporting disaster-stricken families, from the longest flag to the rise of the Senegalese Fashion Council — she was always there, always giving, always uplifting.
She could marvel, engage, share, and dare.
With Mamy, there was always an atmosphere — she was, all by herself, a whole ambiance.
She will be missed. Deeply. By many.
A Loss That Echoes Far Beyond Us
With Mamy, we lose not only a friend, a sister, and an icon, but an entire pillar of our creative family.
May Allah SWT reward her generosity, forgive her shortcomings, envelop her in His mercy, and grant her the highest gardens of Jannatul Firdaus.
May He bring comfort to her family, and to all her friends who now feel the weight of an irreplaceable void.
Khadija, you lose a part of yourself — but inshallah, this is only a “see you again.”
We entrust you to Ar-Rahim, dear Mamy.
You will remain forever in our hearts and prayers.
Fi amanillah Mame Boyo Tall.
Please keep her in your prayers!
