So’ Fatoo is a brand, launched in 2012 in Morocco and established in Senegal that designs, produces and markets authentic, elegant and inclusive clothing of African inspiration and manufacture and highlighting the Senegalese woven loincloth.
“So’ FATOU” / “SOW FATOU”: it is a play on words combining the name of the grandmother, homonym and muse of the founder and a statement that translated from English means “very fatou” and therefore very West African.
Indeed, the first name fatou happens to be the most common female name in West Africa.
However, it has a negative connotation, particularly in Europe where it is often associated with servitude or illegal immigration.So’ Fatoo wants to be a strong and resolutely elegant brand, a symbol of refinement and affirmation of African culture
